Final Building at Chiswick Park Tops Out
The structural completion of the final building at Chiswick Park, was celebrated with a special on-site topping out ceremony.
Building 7 is a 12 storey, 334,000 sq ft office building, and Graham Stirk and Ivan Harbour, partners of Richard Rogers, the architect who conceived the park’s masterplan, joined members of the project team to plant a tree outside the building to mark this important milestone.
Construction work began on building 7, the largest of the twelve buildings in the development, in autumn last year, and is expected to complete in 2014. Chiswick Park will comprise 1.8m sq ft of built stock, providing a workplace for 12,000 people, and making it one of London’s most prominent business destinations.
Mike Pegler, Managing Director, Blackstone, asset managers of the park, said: “This represents a significant milestone in the delivery of a building which is the final piece of the Chiswick Park master plan.”
Lord Rogers said: “The great success of Chiswick Park is rooted in the quality of the client, the public space at its centre, its lake and the well detailed buildings. Chiswick Park has established a new benchmark for the working environment and for office park development generally.
“Building 7 represents the last of the 12 building masterplan and the topping out last week is the culmination of construction work that began 14 years ago. It is a truly outstanding project, one that has drawn worldwide attention and all those involved can be justifiably proud.”
Chiswick Park is famous for its Enjoy-Work brand, a business lifestyle concept representing the ethos of the park; if people enjoy their work, they do better work. This is manifested by the estate management team responsible for creating and maintaining an innovative work environment and delivering a programme of events and services aimed at improving business productivity. In a recent survey, 95% of Chiswick Park employees agreed that the Enjoy-Work environment & ethos enhances their productivity.
Savills and CBRE are the joint letting agents for Chiswick Park, including Building 7. Stanhope is the development manager, the architect is Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, and the lead contractor is Lend Lease. The building is being developed to a BREEAM Offices ‘Excellent’ rating, over ground and 11 upper floors, with floor plates of approximately 28,000 sq ft.
