Working from home can be challenging at the best of times. But working from home as a parent and having your children at home too can be extremely challenging. This is the situation lots of parents are currently finding themselves in. Add on top of that the pressure of home schooling, there’s not a mum or dad out there right now who hasn’t found a new respect for teachers.

Tips for successfully working from home as a parent:

  1. Establish a routine – children and adults both thrive on routines so it’s important to set out some kind of structure for the day.

  2. Use technology to your advantage – there are tons of apps and games that are both entertaining and educational to keep the little ones occupied while you work.

  3. Take it in turns – If there’s two of you at home looking after the kids, try to take it in turns so you can both have fully focused worktime.

We also want to share a couple of our lovely Parenting Partners who offer tips and content to help hardworking parents get through this unusual time.

Get some inspiration from our ONECARD partner Family Members’ Club, Maggie & Rose. They have got the very best of inspiring content for little ones and their grown-ups to explore together on their website here. Watch their free online classes for children every weekday at 10.30am, as well as recommendations for books, toys, activities, and resources to help them unleash their imaginations. Plus, they have guides for parents on family wellbeing, lifestyle and learning.

Finding time to exercise can sometimes feel impossible when you’re a parent. But moving your body is so important for both your physical and mental wellbeing. Claire Cole, founder of Movement for Mums, is passionate about maternal mental health and the power fitness has on boosting our mood. She is offering free 25-minute home workouts every single day – no equipment required, no space required. Her ethos is that fitness should boost our mental health, so each daily home workout is live and different. Membership is currently free and you can sign up on their website here.
